CERITA RAKYAT MALAYSIA CREATIVE COMPETITIONIn conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, MSC Malaysia is proud to announce that we are organizing a creative competition based on the Cerita Rakyat Malaysia (Malaysian Folklore). The competition will focus on the character designs of the Cerita Rakyat Malaysia; Mahsuri, Hang Tuah, Laksamana Bentan, Puteri Santubong, Pak Pandir or Si Luncai. Submission will be open until 15 August 2007.
PRIZE
18 and Above Category
* 1st Prize: RM 15,000
* 2nd Prize: RM 10,000
* 3rd Prize: RM 5,000
* 5 Consolation Prizes: RM 3,000
Under18 Category
* 1st Prize: RM 5,000
* 2nd Prize: RM 3,000
* 3rd Prize: RM 1,000
* 5 Consolation Prizes: RM 500
OBJECTIVE
* To bring back Malaysian Legends and Folklore to Modern Times via ‘technology’ for Malaysians and the World
* To preserve the Malaysian Legends and Folklore for historical andcultural heritage
* To create more quality content that can be showcased or marketed globally
* To attract 3D character designers to come out with creative ideas and designs
RULES & REGULATIONS
1. This competition is open to Malaysian individuals, team of individuals and students. Only one entry per individual / team.
2. Submission details for 18 and Above Category (3D):
a. Submission of at least 5 character designs with the same theme / story
b. Background story of the characters
c. Name, personality and model sheet of the characters
d. Character Development – idea to design
e. Reference of the Cerita Rakyat Malaysia in a word document
f. Digital Format
g. Standing Pose Turn Around for each character in QuickTime Movie Format (Uncompressed 720x576)
h. 3D model file of the character.
i. Print Format (3D render)(300 dpi)
- perspective view of character’s unique pose.
- front view of character’s unique pose.
- side view of character’s unique pose.
3. Submission details for Under 18 Category (2D):
a. Submission at least 3 character designs with the same theme / story
b. Background story of the characters
c. Name, personality and model sheet of the characters
d. Character Development – idea to design
e. Reference of the Cerita Rakyat Malaysia in a word document
f. Digital Format
g. 2D model file of the character
h. Print Format (300 dpi)

4. Requirements:-
a. A soft copy of the submission in CD / DVD format
b. A soft copy of the Application Form
c. A printed copy of the submission in A4, portrait format with comb bind.
d. A printed copy of the Application Form.
5. MDeC will have full rights to all the winning character designs, winning characters IP will be sorely own by MDeC.
6. Character designs may not contain any nudity, adult situations, violence or other obscenities, and must be ORIGINAL.
